What is GeM?
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is India's primary online procurement platform, launched in 2016 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It consolidates the buying power of central government ministries, state departments, central public sector enterprises (CPSEs), and defence establishments into a single digital marketplace. As of 2025, GeM processes over ₹4 lakh crore in annual orders, making it the single largest source of government procurement demand in the country.
Types of tenders on GeM
GeM serves three buying modes. Direct Purchase allows buyers to procure from any seller meeting technical specifications without competitive bidding, up to a value threshold. L1 purchases invite multiple sellers to quote and automatically select the lowest bid. Bid and Reverse Auction mode is used for higher-value items where buyers invite detailed technical and financial bids, followed by an optional reverse auction to drive prices down. Service categories span IT services, manpower, transport, facility management, printing, and consultancy.
How to register as a seller
Sellers must hold a valid GST registration, a PAN card, and a bank account linked to Aadhaar. Registration is completed on the GeM portal with Udyam or MSME certification (if applicable) to qualify for purchase preferences. Each product or service catalogue listing must be approved before orders can be received.
How Bidovate helps with GeM
GeM publishes hundreds of new bids and direct purchase invitations every day. Manually monitoring every relevant category across all buying organisations is practically impossible. Bidovate automatically tracks new GeM opportunities, filters them by your registered product and service categories, company turnover eligibility, and prior experience requirements, and delivers a ranked daily digest to your inbox. Our AI analyses the scope of work, flags mandatory certifications you may lack, and drafts the initial compliance checklist so your team can evaluate fit in minutes rather than hours.
Never miss a GeM tender
Bid India monitors Government e-Marketplace (GeM) in real time and sends your team matched opportunities before the submission deadline.
